Ingredients and DIY practices

There are several natural oils and butter, which can be very effective in treating and/or preventing eczema.

The first thing to mention is to use good quality and where possible organic ingredients. Always check the supplier's documentation about the products sold.

Cleaning your skin

Nohabe handmade natural organic soaps that mature in their paper box.

If you have sensitive skin choose a natural nourishing soap without coloring (not even cosmetic pigments) and fragrance for showering. Shower only every second/third day. Exfoliate in a timely manner, and nourish your skin after showering. Always check the ingredient list, if you don't understand some of them also search on the internet. The best natural products contain only ingredients what every person can understand easily.

For very sensitive and dry skin we recommend you the Calendula Field Face and Body Soap , or the Schoko Magic Face and Body Soap. These two soaps don't have any kind of allergens, there is no coloring and scenting agent either.

We have two soaps for every skin type without essential oils. Olive & Kürbis Fusion Face and Body Soap with green clay for gentle cleaning, and Kaffee Arabica Face and Body Soap for exfoliating.

And lastly, we have two really old fashioned fragranced soaps: Vintage Rose Face and Body Soap with rose oil, pink clay and rose essential oil, and Lavedel Dream Face and Body Soap with white clay and lavender essential oil.

Nourishing your skin

Nourishing and protecting your skin is very important. Simple ingredients: butters and oils can do a great job on your skin.

Best butters to use

Butyrospermum Parkii Butter - Shea butter

Shea butter is fat that’s extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree. It’s solid at room temperature and has an off-white or ivory color. Shea trees are native to West Africa, and most Shea butter still comes from that region. Shea butter is technically a tree nut product, but very low in the proteins that can trigger allergies, it doesn’t clog pores, so it is appropriate for nearly any skin type. Shea butter is full of vitamins that are great for your skin, including vitamins A, E, and F. It also contains linolenic acid and other types of fatty acids your skin needs. The acids in Shea butter are similar to your skin's natural sebum - the oil on your skin. Because of this, the acids in Shea butter super easy for your skin to absorb. When you nourish rashes and other irritated skin with Shea butter, the inflammation can go down and it will promote faster healing.

Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter - Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter, also called Theobroma oil, is a pale-yellow, edible fat extracted from the cocoa bean. Cocoa butter is 50% to 57% of the weight of cocoa beans and gives chocolate its characteristic melting properties. It is used to make chocolate, as well as some ointments, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals. Cocoa butter has a cocoa flavor and aroma. Its melting point is just below human body temperature. Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids, which is why it's often touted for its ability to hydrate and nourish the skin and improve elasticity. The fat in cocoa butter forms a protective barrier over skin to hold in moisture. Cocoa butter contains also antioxidants, making it the perfect choice for people who are suffering from skin inflammations, such as psoriasis, eczema, rashes, or other types on inflammation on the body.

Cocos Nucifera Oil - Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a highly saturated oil that is traditionally made by extracting the oil from raw coconuts or dried coconut kernels. At room temperature it’s solid. The lauric acid content, which makes up nearly 50% of the fatty acids have antimicrobial property that can help protect against harmful microorganisms. Coconut oil may relieve inflammation by improving antioxidant status and decreasing oxidative stress. The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of coconut oil and its components could help treat also acne.

Best oils to use

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil - Almond Oil

Sweet Almond is an excellent emollient and is known for its ability to soften and re-condition the skin. It is rich in proteins and Vitamin D, and is considered extremely nourishing - particularly when used regularly. Contains Olein Glyceride Linoleic Acid. It can be expected to soothe dry skin and irritated areas. A versatile oil suitable for all skin types. It is often used in baby products, oil-base perfumes, for the treatment of eczema, psoriasis and acne in creams, in makeup removers and cleansing products and to treat itchy or hard skin.

Argania Spinosa Seed Oil - Argan Oil

Argan Oil contains a high content of alpha tocopherols, carotene, phytosterols and omega 6. It stimulates, protects and regenerates, helping to retain the soft supple, elastic skin. Used topically, Argan Oil provides intense conditioning benefits to dry and dehydrated skin and hair. When applied to the skin, Argan Oil particularly helps restore, regenerate and restructure the epidermis by way of increasing the nutrient content of skin cells. Argan Oil has sought-after antioxidant properties which makes it especially beneficial in skin care products. Argan Oil also has strengthening effects on nails and hair.

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil - Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax rather than an oil and as such in low temperatures becomes cloudy with a freezing point of 5°C. Jojoba is readily absorbed by the skin and leaves a velvety feeling while softening, protecting and increasing the skins' suppleness without clogging pores. A popular ingredient in skin care due to its softening, protecting and moisturise retaining properties which make it ideal in hand creams and products designed to protect skin from the elements.
